Scrum has 5 events that are designed to fully take over all of your team meetings. These events (meetings) are designed to give the team just enough communication to be in sync and to be able to do the deep work required to accomplish their goals. These events must be timeboxed, meaning they should never exceed the time allocated listed below.

Sprint Planning: 2 hours per week or less

  • 2 hours or less for a 1-week sprint / 8 or less for a 1-month sprint

Daily Scrum: 15 minutes per 24 hours

Sprint Review: 1 hour per week or less

  • 1 hour or less for a 1-week sprint / 4 hours or less for a 1-month sprint

Sprint Retrospective: 45 minutes per week or less

  • 45 minutes for a 1-week sprint / 3 hours or less for a 1-month sprint

Product Backlog Refinement: 5–10% of every sprint
