True Valentine Story

Here is a little video I did with the guys from TMK Productions. They did the filming and Ruslan Marinin and I did the editing. Even though this video was done practically over night, we had lots of fun putting it together. Part of the fun was iMovie glitches, and even though they have been pretty frustrating, the video still turned out great.

Incredibly fun and lighthearted, this video will make you smile.

Cuba, January 2010

Sometimes we must make sacrifices to achieve something in the future. Sometimes we must push ourselves to do what we want the most. Sometimes you just pack your bags and get on an airplane.

I spent an amazing week in Cuba in January. By chance, a few of my friends came there a few days after me. I had an amazing time meeting new people and hanging out with old friends. This short video I shot with my iPhone has a few highlights of the trip.

2010 Toronto Autoshow

2010 Autoshow was the first Autshow I have attended. There was a lot of presentations, slow, and sometimes, boring talks. The cars unveiled at the show have been seen many times before at other shows. The American automakers focused more on talking about sales, market shares, and a lot of other stock holder mumbo jumbo in which I have very little interest in. However, there were a few things that caught my attention.

Chrysler has presented the Fiat 500 – a compact car for the Canadian Market.

“Fiat 500 is as much fun as Antoinette over here”(photo) – says Reid Bigland, President and CEO, Chrysler Canada. Fiat 500 looks like a great compact car to me. The number 500 on the rims reminds me of something.

I have also been pleasantly surprised by Lincoln Concept C. Very clean, and elegant design. This car is very attractive. Even bigger of a surprise was the fact that it was standing among other Fords and Lincolns. I would expect this car to have its own podium.

Another beauty has been presented by Infiniti. The Essence concept looks like it was inspired by the Maserati Grand Tourismo. The car is simply beautiful. Unfortunately it is not planning to go into production, but Infiniti will use the design elements from this car in their future models.

Models vs Photographers 4 and more.

Here is the video from Models vs Photographers 4, hosted by 500px on December 12, 2009. It has been almost two months, but it is a great video and if you still have not watched it I recommend that you do.

500px News
We now have over 30,000 photos on 500px. We had over 200,000 visits in the past 30 days. Needless to say we are very happy with the development of the community. Thank you everyone!

On Thursday, February 11th 500px is going to the Canadian International AutoShow. We will be covering the event on our twitter accounts live on Thursday: @blindmonk, @cyberguss, and @xisal. We are scheduled to start at 7:30am ET.

I have also been working on a website for a graphic designer Violetta Movtchan. You can see the old version of the site here: VilkaInc. The new version is coming very soon.

I have also worked with TMK Productions earlier this week on editing a little advertisement they made. I would really love to show the video but the guys from TMK asked me not to show it until they handle all the work with their client. Hopefully I can show it to you soon.

PS – At the moment I am looking for more work. So if you are looking for some help, or know someone who is, don’t hesitate to let me know.

Entrepreneurship and Creativity

Gone with the wind by rvkosolapov on 500px.com
Gone with the wind by rvkosolapov

Recently I had a meeting with Alex Shipillo – the president of Impact Entrepreneurship Group, Canada’s largest youth-run entrepreneurship organization and co-founder of Youth Canada, online resource for Canadian high school students. We had a very interesting discussion about entrepreneurship, education, and life.

Alex and I are passionate about entrepreneurship. We come from two different worlds. Alex loves building companies and empowering people. He has amazing plans which I will let him talk about. He has outstanding experience working with great people and organizations from very young age, and I have tons of respect for him. Alex helped me realize some things about myself and has inspired this article.

My passion for entrepreneurship is all about creating meaningful experiences for people. I want the product to be more than just the product, I want people to have feelings for it, I want them to love it, rather than just have them buy it. And I want people who I work with to see their work as more than just work. I want people all around me to have passion for everything they do in life.

What is entrepreneurship? What is starting a company?
Starting your own business is not just about making money. You can make money just by getting a job(Believe me, I tried). Starting a business and building a company is something that is much more sacred. Building a company is a creative process like no other. It is an art that touches lives of countless individuals – friends, family, fans, partners, employees, investors, costumers… Starting a business is all about giving something to the world. Any company that does not realize this fails to achieve success. Starting a business is also about an amazing responsibility to all the people who are touched by it directly or indirectly. This responsibility can make you very strong, but if you can’t face it it will crash you.

What do you give?
Everything you got! Whether a company provides a service, or a product, whether it changes one life at a time or one million lives at a time. the company must give everything it has! Entrepreneurship is about creating meaningful experience for people that you surround. People in a great company direct their passion to a cause and create something that is much greater than the sum of the parts.
